Monthly Summary

Dear Ladies,

Welcome to the Shades of Pink Sisterhood. We are so excited that you have decided to become a part of SHOPS at Grand Rapids First. We believe that women can greatly benefit from personal relationships with other godly women. Women are relational by nature and being connected to a community of believers is essential as we seek to grow in our faith and live out our God-given purpose. Titus 2:3-5 specifically calls older women to lives of reverence that provide godly examples for younger women to follow. The Shades of Pink Sisterhood is built on this concept. Age is not so much a factor, but life experience, spiritual development and individual interests make us all unique (different shades of pink J) and enable us to pour wisdom into others, based on what we have learned through our own journeys thus far.

So, we are calling “sisters” to come alongside each other in order to learn, laugh and grow together. The idea of “sisters” not only represents our sisterhood in Christ as children of God, but it also represents the familial sense of the word. When you think about an ideal sister relationship, it includes the passing down of knowledge from life skills such as grocery shopping and budgeting to guidance in the areas of dating, marriage and parenthood. Sisters also have fun! They laugh together and shop together, share feelings and recipes, celebrate each other’s accomplishments and help each other through difficult times. In a world that is becoming more and more disconnected and challenging, it is imperative that we build intentional relationships with other godly women who will encourage us, hold us accountable, comfort us and rejoice with us.

We welcome you to this dynamic, new ministry and we look forward to the amazing ways God will bless and use you through your participation. Should you have questions or concerns at any time, please let us know. You can email the SHOPS leadership team at shops@grandrapidsfirst.org or call the church office at 616.531.2100.

In Christ,
The Pink Impact Leadership Team

SHOPS FAQ

The Vision
To be a Titus 2:3-5 ministry where women edify and build up one another in the Body of Christ. Women mentoring women—to build strong godly women confident in their spiritual walk and in their love for Christ.

How do I accomplish this?
Colossians 3:16 says “Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”

Answers to Questions you might have:

What is the time commitment?
The commitment will be at least six months.
Praying with your sister weekly and meeting with her once a month.

How do I first get acquainted?
You will need to make the initial contact once you have been matched with a Ruth Sister. A good way to break the ice when you first meet is to share your testimony.

What is required of you?
Be in God’s Word and in prayer with the Lord. He alone can guide you and your sister. Remember, apart from God, you have nothing to offer your sister. You do not have to be perfect! You just need to bring her to God and to depend upon God, not her relationship with you.

The only way to minister effectively is to keep all things CONFIDENTIAL. It is important that you be non-shockable. The Ruth Sister needs to feel loved and accepted as she communicates what is on her heart.
